What to do with an XL t-shirt?
Posted on October 15, 2013
So what can you do with a big, baggy, oversized t-shirt? Here’s a quick way to cut up an XL t-shirt by scrunching up the bottom and shortening the shirt! Great way to hide your tummy too 🙂 Thanks to Elephant in the Room for this shirt! It’s super soft, thin and printed on an XL American Apparel t-shirt.
Step 1: Cut the bottom
Cut off the bottom hem so you have a clean edge to work with.
Measure how many inches you want to take off the bottom and mark a straight line across the shirt with pins.
Step 2: Cut strips
Cut 1 inch thick strips across the bottom of the shirt to create the fringe.
Stretch out each strip by pulling on them.
Try on the shirt and make sure the length is good and everything is even.
Step 3: Knot strips
Grab two strips and double knot them together.
If it’s not scrunched or tight enough, repeat step 7 by tying two double knots together again in another double knot
Done! I’ve styled it here with shorts, a skirt and even as a swimsuit coverup!
