John Frieda – Brilliant Brunette Review

Posted on September 24, 2016

I received these products from Influenster to try out and review.

How it works

The John Frieda website says these products will give your brunette hair a natural-looking, illuminating glow.

The shampoo and conditioner is supposed to gradually infuse golden tones to illuminate your brunette colour. It also says you’ll get visible results with multiple washes. Safe to use on natural or colour-treated hair and for use on highlights and lowlights.

My experience

I’ve used both the shampoo and conditioner regularly and I’m about halfway through each bottle now and sadly, I haven’t noticed any difference to the colour of my hair.

I have black Asian hair that I dye regularly to using blonde hair dye just to keep the colour a bit lighter. Even using blonde hair dye, my hair barely change in colour so I wasn’t surprised that this product wasn’t working miracles.

On the plus side

I love the squeeze bottle with a bottom cap, no screw caps or turing upside down in the shower! The product itself is a beautiful metallic bronze, which I always enjoy seeing before squishing into my hair.

The smell is not very nice, but it lathers well, gives a thorough clean, gentle on the hair and adds shine.

Final verdict

Overall, it’s a good shampoo and conditioner, as in it cleans and conditions your hair. I like how my hair feels after I use it, but it doesn’t live up to the promise of visibly brighter hair.
