Tutorial: Skeleton Cut T-Shirt – Halloween Costume
Posted on October 20, 2013
If you’re looking for a simple DIY Halloween costume, how about a skeleton? You just need a t-shirt, a pair of scissors and I’ll show you how to cut it up (and put on the makeup)!
It’s hard coming up with a cool costume idea every year and I hate spending so much money on buying a costume so I’m always on the lookout for easy DIY costumes that don’t require any special items. Sexy skeleton to the rescue!
Step 1: Neckline
Step 2: Columns
Plan 3 columns of cuts. You can use a pen on a white shirt or white sewing chalk for a black shirt.
Cut 1 skinny spine in the middle column. I snipped them 1/2 an inch apart.
Step 4: Cut ribs
Start cutting out the ribs on each side. First row is a tear shape, second row is an oval, third row is a skinny oval, then the rest are straight lines tapering into a “V” shape towards the bottom of the spine.
Step 5: Finishing touches
Stretch everything out and make sure it’s even.
Voila! Optionally, you could weave the spine (which will scrunch up and shorten the shirt) or cut out every other row in the spine to create boxes for spine vertebras.
